Walter McLaughlin has spent most of his legal career preparing
students to pass the Bar Examination. Shortly after graduating
from Harvard Law School Magna Cum Laude in 1960 where he was
an editor of the Harvard Law Review, Mr. McLaughlin, started
the Smith McLaughlin Hart (SMH) Bar Review with Professors
Fred Hart and James Smith of Boston College Law School.
For the next thirty years over
thirty thousand students preparing for the Massachusetts Bar
Examination enrolled in that course. The methods and techniques
used in the classroom then are now presented on-line in the
McLaughlin Massachusetts Bar Review course.
In 1990 Walter McLaughlin joined
the faculty of Suffolk Law School as an adjunct professor
and has taught a course as Suffolk to prepare students for
the bar examination since 1997. In 1999, when Suffolk moved
into its new building, which is the most technologically advanced
law school building in the country, he was able to use Powerpoint®
to teach the bar review in a much more effective manner. He
has now placed his lectures and Powerpoint® presentations
on the internet.
